**Traveling with your Nanit?** Good news: Nanit supports pairing on **open (unsecured) WiFi networks**—so you can stay connected even while on the go.

Open networks do **not** require a password, meaning information passed over them isn’t encrypted. This poses a risk to your data privacy and security.

By connecting Nanit to an open or hotel WiFi network, **you acknowledge and accept these risks**. Nanit does not guarantee the security of your data on unsecured networks.

## **Step-by-Step: How to Connect Nanit to Hotel WiFi**

1.  Open the **Nanit app** on your phone or tablet.  
     
2.  Go to **Settings** > **Network Settings**.  
     
3.  Tap **Pair Nanit with your network**.  
     
4.  Follow the steps until you reach the **Connect to Wi-Fi** screen.  
     
5.  On this screen, you can:  
     
    *   Select a network (with or without a password)  
         
    *   Choose the **security type**  
         
    *   Indicate whether the network is **hidden**  
         
6.  If the network has a **captive portal** (e.g. asks for your room number), you’ll be redirected to log in.  
     
7.  Once login is complete, tap **Done**. Your Nanit camera will connect to the network.  
     

## **Additional Ways to Connect Nanit While Traveling**

### **1\. Ask the Hotel for a Secure Network**

Some hotels provide password-protected or hidden networks specifically for smart devices. Ask the front desk or IT support if one is available.

### **2\. Use a Travel Router**

Create a secure private network—even behind a captive portal.

**To use a travel router:**

*   Connect the travel router to the hotel’s WiFi.  
     
*   Use your phone/laptop to complete the captive portal login.  
     
*   Connect your phone to the travel router’s network.  
     
*   Pair Nanit through the Nanit app using that same network.  
     

💡 **Pro Tip:**

Set your travel router’s **SSID and password** to match your home network for easier pairing.

### **3\. Use Your Phone as a Hotspot**

As a last resort, your mobile device can act as a hotspot.

Keep in mind:

*   **Data usage** can be high  
     
*   Speed may be limited depending on signal  
     
*   Some carriers charge extra for tethering/hotspot usage
