What is the Dashboard?
The Nanit App Dashboard shows your baby’s sleep data for both nighttime and daytime sleep. You can view summary data by day (all subscription tiers) as well as by week or month (Nanit Insights Memories Plan and Milestone Plan members only).
Dashboard data is calculated by Nanit’s Algorithm. Learn more about our algorithm here: How does Nanit actually work?
Your baby’s sleep data is displayed in ‘Tiles’ on the dashboard. The information in these tiles can help you establish a routine for your baby, understand more about their sleep and how that might be connected to their milestones, and more! This data can also be helpful to share with your Pediatrician and childcare team.
There are three ‘sections’ of tiles on the dashboard
- Sleep Analytics: displays data about your baby’s sleep captured by Nanit’s Algorithm that can help you understand their patterns and establish a routine that works for your family. These data points include when they went to bed, when they woke up, how long it took them to fall asleep, the amount of time spent asleep, the number of parent visits, their sleep efficiency, and their breathing motion metrics if you use Breathing Motion Monitoring.
- Room Environment: displays the average, minimum, and maximum temperature and humidity in baby’s room for both day and nighttime sleep.
- Advanced Sleep Analytics: displays information that helps you understand baby’s behavior and movements in the crib. These include the sleep position - which indicates the percentage of time baby was sleeping on their back, belly, or side, and head position - which indicates the percentage of time baby’s head was tilted to the left, right, or straight.
Requirements for Advanced Analytics:
- Camera generation: All
- Mount type: Wall Mount, Floor Stand
- Nanit Insights Plan level: Sleep, Memories or Milestones (note: some tiles require a higher Plan tier)

Tile | Description |
Went To Bed |
With this tile, you can view daily, weekly, or monthly bedtime patterns (plan dependent). Tip: Having a consistent bedtime has been shown to improve how well and how long a baby sleeps. A goal might be to get the baby to bed within a 30 minute window most nights. |
Woke Up |
With this tile, you can view your baby’s daily, weekly, or monthly wake up patterns (plan dependent). Tip: A consistent wake up time can help your child be on track with their routine for the rest of the day. |
Temperature |
The recommended range for nursery’s temperature is around 68-72 degrees. Tip: Try to keep the temperature consistent throughout the night. Take the room temperature into account when deciding how to dress your baby for sleep. At 72 degrees all they should need is footed PJs, but at slightly cooler temperatures they may need an additional layer. It’s okay if your baby’s hands are a little cool to the touch or their nose is a little cold but if their toes are too cold, we suggest adding an additional layer. On the other hand, if your baby’s head or back is sweaty, it's usually a sign they are too hot, so you should consider removing one layer in order to avoid overheating. |
Humidity |
Generally, humidity should be kept around 40-55%. Tip: When the humidity is too high, the risk for mold growth increases, when too low it might lead to dry skin and stuffy nose. Humidified air keeps the nasal passages moist and mucus less sticky, making breathing easier for children. |
Activity Score |
The activity score tells you if your baby was more or less active in the crib overnight compared to the previous week. Tip: When infants are about to reach a new motor milestone, they tend to get more active during sleep. So if you see a spike in activity, your baby might be getting ready to show you some exciting new skills. |
Head Position |
The head position tile shows what proportion of the night your baby’s head faced to the left, right or straight. Spending time in all positions can help the development of your baby’s neck muscles. Tip: If your baby spends too much time facing to the left or the right, they may develop a condition called torticollis, a tightening of the neck muscles which may need to be treated with physical therapy. If you notice that your baby starts to have a preference to face one side or the other, talk to your healthcare provider. A great way to prevent torticollis is by practicing tummy time during the day. This will help strengthen their neck muscles and make it less likely for them to develop a directional preference. |
Body Position |
The body position tile shows what proportion of the night your baby slept on their back, belly or side. Tip: The Safe Sleep Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend always putting your baby to sleep on their back. Once your baby shows signs of starting to roll, it is important to take them out of the swaddle if you are using one. This would typically happen before around 4 months, but each baby has their own timeline, so look at signs from your baby for readiness to roll. Once they start to roll independently, continue placing your baby to sleep on their back, but don't worry if during the night your baby will find the position they are most comfortable in. Babies will soon develop their own preferences for sleeping positions, so don't be surprised if they spend the majority of the night in one position. |

Troubleshooting: What if I notice an error in the data in one of the tiles?
- Sleep data for a given night (for certain tiles) can be manually edited in the dashboard.
- If your data is frequently incorrect, check that your Nanit camera is positioned properly above the crib to ensure that our Analytics function optimally.
- If your camera is positioned properly and you are still experiencing inaccuracies, send a report via the app or reach out to our Support team for further troubleshooting.
