What is 2-way audio?
2-way audio allows you to take advantage of the speaker in your Nanit Plus camera to communicate with the people in the nursery from afar. You can use this feature to talk to your spouse or nanny, sing to your little one or just to calm them down when they are restless at night.
Who has 2-way audio
2-way audio is only available on the Nanit Plus camera sold starting October 2018. Learn more about the Nanit Plus.

Security and 2-way audio
We know that your family’s security is one of the most important things for you, and for us as well. We designed the 2-way audio feature in a way that will surely make you worry about one less thing at night.
- The connection between your phone, the Nanit camera, and our server is done using SSL encryption, this is also true to audio sessions.
- Every audio session is authenticated to make sure the Nanit user has a real Nanit account and that he/she is allowed access to your camera.
- You can control who you allow talking through the camera using our permission management. You can turn access on or off through your Nanit app’s settings.

Frequently asked questions about the 2-way audio
Can I hear the sound from the nursery while I talk?
When you start broadcasting from your app to the camera, we have to mute the sounds coming in from the nursery to avoid creating an audio feedback loop. Once you finish talking and you release the microphone button, you’ll be able to hear the sounds from your nursery again.
Can I increase or decrease the volume?
The volume of the speaker in your camera is set to a volume that should be just loud enough to hear, but not too loud that it will scare your baby. Adjusting the volume manually is not possible.
Can I and my partner use this feature at the same time from two different devices?
No, only one phone can talk to the camera at a time.
I continue to get the "connection failure" error messages even though I keep pressing the "retry" button. What else can I do to fix it?
It possible that the camera is currently disconnected from the internet or that another member of your parenting team is currently talking through the camera. Check that your phone’s internet connection is working and try again.
